The underlying American Funds may include growth, growth-and-income, equity-income, balanced and fixed income funds. Normally through its investments in the underlying funds, the fund will maintain at least 45% of the value of its net assets in common stocks and other equity investments and at least 25% of the value of its net assets in bonds and other debt securities (including money market instruments). The fund will have exposure to growth-oriented common stocks.
