To qualify as an S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrat, a company must meet three criteria: it must be a member of the S&P 500 index, it must have increased its dividend for at least 25 consecutive calendar years, and it must meet certain minimum market cap and liquidity requirements. As of early 2026, approximately 66 companies hold this status — roughly 13% of the S&P 500.
Dividend Aristocrats are tracked by the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index, which is rebalanced annually in January. Companies that cut or freeze their dividend are immediately removed. The index has historically delivered higher total returns than the broader S&P 500 with lower volatility — a rare combination. This list includes both confirmed Aristocrats and near-Aristocrats (20+ year streaks) that are likely to qualify soon. Use the DRIP calculator to model income from any stock below.
