The company's operations include the identification of and notification to potential infringers, marketing of its rights under the Freeny Patent, negotiation of licensing agreements, market test agreements, and the negotiation of settlements with companies that infringe on the Freeny Patent. EDC was incorporated in 1959 under the name Domestic Credit Corporation and changed its name to Mardyne, Inc. in 1980. Mardyne changed its name to Dial-A-Gift, Inc. in 1985 and to Interactive Gift Express, Inc. in 1994. Further, it changed name to E-data Corporation in 1995. The company is based in Port Washington, New York. As of May 31, 2011, E-Data Corp. operates as a subsidiary of Kaba Holding AG.
