MEMY is an actively managed ETF that seeks current income by investing in meme stocks with an options overlay strategy. Meme stocks gain rapid popularity on social media and are highly volatile and speculative, often trading above fundamental valuations. The fund identifies investments by monitoring social media for unusual discussion volume, trending topics, and strong sentiment, along with quantitative metrics. It selects 1530 US-listed stocks or ETPs with high implied volatility, from any market cap or sector. MEMY combines direct stock holdings with synthetic exposures, using options such as buying calls and selling puts at similar strikes, including deep in-the-money calls. To generate income and manage risk, the fund employs systematic put credit spreads, choosing options based on volatility, expiration, and overall market conditions. Positions are actively adjusted based on options market signals and shifting social sentiment flows, with spreads rolled regularly.
