UniCapital Corporation engages in the origination, acquisition, sale, and servicing of equipment leases and arranged structured financing in the computer and telecommunications equipment, middle market, and small ticket areas of the equipment leasing industry. In addition, it provides lease administration and processing services. These leases and structured financing arrangements cover a range of equipment, including computer and telecommunications equipment, construction and manufacturing equipment, office equipment, tractor trailers, printing equipment, car washes, and petroleum retail equipment. The company was incorporated in 1997 and is based in Aventura, Florida. UniCapital, together with substantially all of its subsidiaries, filed voluntary Petitions for Relief under the provisions of Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in December 2000. The company retains control of its assets and is authorized to operate its business as a debtor in possession under the jurisdiction of the Bankruptcy Court.
