YYYM is a passively managed fund designed to generate high monthly income through a portfolio of 30 US municipal bond closed-end funds (CEFs). The underlying funds are generally exempt from regular US federal taxes. The index selects funds through a two-tier screening process based on minimum asset size, trading liquidity, yield relative to the broader universe, discount or premium to NAV, and an expense ratio cap of 6%. Eligible funds are then ranked using a combined score, and the top 30 are included in the index. Portfolio weights are determined by each funds relative yield, subject to diversification and liquidity constraints. The strategy relies on purchasing discounted, high-yielding CEFs with enough liquidity to help minimize trading costs within the basket. The index is rebalanced and reconstituted semiannually in January and July.
