Other Impella models such as the 5.0, LD, and 5.5 are also percutaneous micro heart pumps, primarily employed in surgical settings. The Impella RP is a percutaneous catheter-based axial flow pump. Beyond the pumps, Abiomed offers the Impella SmartAssist platform, which leverages optical sensors for precise pump placement and uses algorithms to enhance native heart function assessment during patient weaning. Its Impella Connect system provides secure, cloud-based remote monitoring of the automated Impella controller for medical staff. The company also markets the OXY-1 System, a portable device for external respiratory support.
