This fund typically commits at least 80% of the value of its net assets—supplemented by any borrowed capital for investment purposes—to equity instruments. Its primary investment focus is on common stocks of American companies that trade on exchanges. Up to 35% of the fund's total holdings may also be allocated to common stock, or equivalent interests, in non-U.S. companies (including those from developing markets) that are traded in the United States. This portion can also include American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) related to such international firms. ADRs are essentially certificates issued by U.S. depository banks, signifying ownership interests in foreign company securities held by those banks.
