China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, widely known as Sinopec, operates as a leading energy and chemical conglomerate across Mainland China, Singapore, and various international locations. Its business is structured into five main divisions: Exploration and Production, Refining, Marketing and Distribution, Chemicals, and Corporate and Other operations. The company's upstream activities involve discovering and developing oil and gas reserves, followed by the extraction of crude oil and natural gas. In its refining segment, Sinopec processes and purifies crude oil to produce and market a wide array of petroleum products. The Marketing and Distribution arm manages an extensive network of oil depots and service stations, facilitating both the wholesale and retail distribution of refined fuels like gasoline and diesel. Within its Chemicals division, Sinopec manufactures and sells a comprehensive range of petrochemicals and their derivatives. This includes fundamental organic chemicals, synthetic resins, raw materials for synthetic fibers (monomers and polymers), synthetic fibers themselves, synthetic rubber, and agricultural fertilizers. Furthermore, Sinopec undertakes a variety of other ventures, such as the production, storage, and commercialization of coal chemical products, as well as the import and export of petroleum products, natural gas, petrochemicals, and various other chemical goods. The company also produces specialized items, including catalyst products, lubricant base oil, polyester chips and fibers, plastics, and intermediate petrochemicals. Significant resources are allocated to the research, development, and production of ethylene and its downstream byproducts. Sinopec also provides a suite of industrial services, including geophysical exploration, drilling, surveying, logging, downhole operations, construction, crude oil jetty services, and natural gas pipeline transmission. Additionally, it manufactures essential production equipment and oversees investments in the coal chemical industry. Sinopec was founded in 2000, maintains its corporate headquarters in Beijing, China, and operates as a subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation.
